Voting Poll, Round 2!

I got so much feedback from the last Voting Poll, that I am ready to do it again!
So here goes...this one is for all my Children of the 80's!
Would you rather see:
A.) Rainbow Brite
B.) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
or
C.) Garfield and Friends?
To vote, you can either leave me a message here, or you can become a fan of Sweet Bites on Facebook and post your choice there!
Here's the direct link to my facebook fan page:
The voting will end June 10th, so you have plenty of time to make up your minds, and I'll keep reminding you as time gets closer!
On another note:
This will probably be my last entry until the 9th of June. I'm leaving to go on vacation on the 3rd and will not be doing any cake pops again until the 10th. I'm tempted to take a few pops with me on the trip though to see if anyone in Gatlinburg has tried them yet! We'll see... :)
I do however plan on checking out some of the local bakeries though while I'm there and see what the south has to offer me :)
I'll have new pics and new entries ready to go when I get back, so
Hope everyone has a great couple of weeks!

I couldn't help myself.....

Super Mario Bros and Care Bears were neck and neck during the poll I posted earlier last week. In fact, Care Bears won by ONE vote. I really wanted to do the Super Mario Bros though, so I thought, why not do both??!!??
I LOVED playing this game when I was younger. I can't wait to buy it for my Wii too so that I can continue to play it! It brings back such awesome memories.
So, here are some of the most memorable characters from the game!

The grumpy toadstool looking guy (can't remember his name, if you do, leave me a comment letting me know!), the toadstool that makes Mario and Luigi all big, and Mario himself, and Luigi!

CARE BEARS!

I posted a poll earlier in the week, asking each of you to vote for my next cake pop. Your choices were Super Mario Bros, Pooh and Piglet, or Care Bears, and the winner was:
CARE BEARS!
I am a product of the 80's, and because of that, one of my favorite childhood memories are of
the Care Bears!!!!
I have probably 6 or 7 of these lil guys in stuffed animal form to this day and the kid in me still loves to watch the Care Bear Movie!
CARE BEARS!!
Grumpy Bear, Good Luck Bear, Cheer Bear, Friend Bear and Funshine Bear!
Bask in their Awesomeness! lol!

Baby Shower Cupcakes!

I love making cupcakes. I love baby showers. I love baby shower treats...
but what I love more, is making the baby shower treats!
I got a chance to make cupcakes for a baby shower recently and had so much fun with it!
My client decided she wanted baby faces and baby feet.
This gave me my first opportunity to make my own fondant finally. I've been wanting to do it for a while now, and it really wasn't hard at all! And it tastes WAY better than the store bought stuff.
So, my baby pacifiers and the baby feet are made out of my homemade fondant, and the cupcakes were frosting with whipped cream cheese frosting, colored with cocoa powder for the skin tone color. The bows are heart shaped and a fondant center.

Hope the mommy to be loves them as much as I do!

CUPCAKES!

Yay! I got an order for May's flavor of the month in CUPCAKES!
I had fun making these!
And yes, that's a real lime wedge on that cupcake! YUM for Key Lime!

SpongeBob returns!

Ah, good ol' SpongeBob is back! I finally got an official order for the lil guy and boy was I excited!
I even thought of the perfect arrangement to put him and his buddies in!

How awesome is this sand bucket? I even filled the bottom part with crushed graham crackers to make it look like sand!
I sure hope those lil 2nd graders love these on their last day of school. Their teacher is the best! :)

POLL:

Ok, so I'm trying something new...
Once a month, not only will we have the flavor of the month special, but we will also have a voting poll.
Yup, that's right. You wonderful readers will get a chance to let me know what kind of cake pop you would like to see. I vow to do at least one new amazing cake pop every month for the rest of the year!
So, on that note, here are your choices for this month!
I will let this poll run until Friday of this week and by Sunday I will have the new pop up for your viewing!
Would you like to see:
A) Winnie the Pooh and friends (Bakerella did just do Pooh and his Hunny, but I'd love to have my chance at it as well!)
B) Super Mario Bros
or
C) Care Bears!
Please either leave me a message here, or email me at sweetbites25@hotmail.com, or find Sweet Bites on facebook and let me know there!
I look forward to hearing from you all!

It's a music filled Birthday!

One of my good friends recently requested a musical theme bunch of cake pops for her hubby's birthday.
Originally these were going to be tambourines...but yeah, that didn't happen. It's ok though, I like these better anyways! What's a music theme w/out notes on a score anyways right?
These are my mini microphones! I had so much fun creating these, but I definitely think I'll do them a bit differently next time around!

And last but not least, my guitars! I had so much fun when I created these a while back for the Hannah Montana themed party, I was excited to do them again! Her hubby plays the acoustic guitar, so these were the main reason for the theme!

New Flavors!

I recently got a chance to try out some new flavors of cake pop! I love experimenting!
The first one is actually the month of May's Flavor of the Month, Key Lime. I had previously tried them out as cupcakes and thought they were pretty good, so I was excited when I actually got an order for the cake pops.
I mixed the key lime cake with cream cheese frosting, dipped them in yellow candy melt and swirled green candy melt around the base. I then took a lighter green, and piped on the crecent shape and then used white to form the lines, creating a candy lime!

The next flavor I got to create was Chocolate Covered Cherry! And let me tell you, it REALLY does taste just like a chocolate covered cherry. I had previously done this flavor in the past, but I had used cherry cake with cherry frosting and dipped it in chocolate. While it was good, it just does not compare to this one!
I used left over chocolate cake and mixed in cherry frosting, I then dipped it in chocolate candy melt, swirled it with pink, then added the candy cherries on top!
This last one is brand spanking new. The client who ordered these has great taste! She asked me to do Pineapple cake and mix it with cherry frosting, thinking that just maybe it would taste like pineapple upside-down cake. I was hesitant that it actually would, but I had no reason to doubt! It DOES! I think this one is my new favorite! I took Pineapple cake, mixed it with a little bit of cherry frosting, but to me the cherry was a bit over-powering, so I added a little bit of real pineapple juice to the mix and VOILA! Once that was done, I dipped them in white candy melt, swirled with orange and then made a cute little pineapple slice on top with yellow and brown melt and dropped a bit of red in the middle for a cherry!

So this actually makes a total of 4 "gourmet" flavors to choose from now! Strawberry Shortcake (look at previous posts), Key Lime, Chocolate Covered Cherry, and Pineapple Upside-Down Cake!
As a side note: I do also offer the Pineapple Upside-down Cake as a cupcake! It's a typical pineapple cupcake with the pineapple and cherry pieces baked underneath with the rich brown sugary syrup-just like a regular pineapple upside-down cake! So yummy. I think there is a picture possibly back towards the beginning of my blog!

FYI

I know it is the beginning of May right now, but because of all the orders that are coming my way, I need to let you all know that in June, I will be taking a Vacation. My hubby and I will be taking off on the evening of the 2nd of June and we will be gone until the 9th of June. So, with that said, I will not be fulfilling any orders from June 1st through the 10th. You can still book an order with me for anything after the 10th and before the 1st though. I can deliver them all the way up until the 1st.
Sorry for any inconvenience this causes, but sometimes, we all need to get away for a bit :) I'm hoping while we are in Gatlinburg, TN, (which is where we are going!) that I can check out some of their local bakeries and see what they have to offer!
Thank you all for being so awesome!

April's Flavor of the month pics

YAY! Someone actually ordered my special FLAVOR OF THE MONTH cake pops for April!
As you remember, I posted last month that the flavor of the month was going to be Strawberry Shortcake cake pops!
Well, take a look at these tasty lil bites!
I LOVE how these turned out. You know, sometimes you leap before thinking, and that's what I kind of did when I posted about making these last month. I had never tried to make them at that point. This was a first and they turned out better than I expected! And the cake, oh the cake! Baking it with the real bits of strawberry, the cake was sooo MOIST. Amazing! Needless to say, I will be doing these again even if they are not the flavor of the month lol.
